Real Estate Postcard Marketing – Money Saving Tips

With the economy in a major downturn and the housing market tanking, real estate agents are having a rough time making a living. It’s getting more difficult for us to justify spending funds on marketing materials when we don’t know when we’ll see our next sales commission.

The catch is that if we don’t market our services, then we’ll never generate the new clients we so desperately need.

In years past, agents have had great success with typical real estate postcards. Agents usually mail out postcards to both neighborhoods and their past clients to generate new listings and new buyers. The problem with these mass mailing pieces is that agents can easily spend thousands of dollars on their mailings with printing and postage costs. Those funds are gone forever and there is no guarantee they will create any new leads.

As a top producing real estate agent for the past decade, let me reveal some of the ways you can save money on real estate postcards:

Target You Postcard Mailings:

In the past, my real estate team has sent thousands of postcards out each month to every single home in many neighborhoods. To cut down on expenses, we now only target properties that have recently been on the market and couldn’t sell (expired / withdrawns) or properties that have not sold in the past five years.

While it takes a bit more time to research, the savings we have realized have been substantial. Spending a few hours researching a neighborhood can save us over ten thousand dollars a year. All my team has to do is pull neighborhood data from our title company and pull recent listing activity from our local MLS. This targeted marketing has helped us keep our income steady and save money on real estate postcards.

Hand Deliver You Real Estate Postcards

The postal service keeps increasing the cost of mailing a postcard. A large 8 x 6 postcard can now cost almost a dollar with first class postage. Another way we save money on real estate postcards is to hand deliver them or have our postcards hand delivered by someone else. You can usually locate services that hand deliver fliers for about $0.10 a house. Saving over thirty cents per property can add up very quickly.

If you have the extra time, hand delivering your postcards yourself allows you to meet your potential listing clients and can help you build strong relationships in your community. Shaking hands and giving neighbors a marketing piece can be extremely effective.

Using Real Estate Postcards Coupons

With all of the real estate agents trying to save money on their real estate postcards, the printing suppliers are really feeling the heat. Because of the decrease in agent spending, many printers are offering real estate postcard coupons and other deals. Spending an extra 10 minutes using these coupons can save you 10% – 20% on your printing costs!

Besides coupons and ads you may see for your local printers, most online printers offer real estate postcard coupons. These deals and discounts can be huge and can help you reach more clients and spend less of your money.

There are creative ways you can save money on real estate postcards. Don’t get frustrated and never give up!

My Real Estate team closes well over 100 transactions a year. We keep a review site up to date to help other real estate agents make informed decisions on their vendors and suppliers. You can read our Real Estate Agent Deals and Reviews here.
