A foreclosure help meet-up group is a group of people in foreclosure who meet together and talk online. The purpose of the meetings are to inform, inspire and excite members to take action to stop their foreclosure or to move on with dignity.

Birds of a feather flock together, but people are not birds. The world is moving so fast and you and me get so busy doing our own thing that we lose contact with each other. In fact, it is easy for us to become lonely and isolated.

Many people behind in making their monthly payments feel isolated and have no idea who to talk to. Contrary to what the pundits say lenders are seldom helpful or available and often misinformed. And many of us are too embarrassed to talk to our family and friends. And as hard as it is to believe sometimes even our own spouses.

The circumstances that lead to foreclosure are complicated and no two situations are the same. However as in any contest the sooner we prepare ourselves with a plan of action and start working it, the more likely it is we will find the solution that is our best alternative.

As an example if someone has cancer I think you would agree it is in their best interest to seek medical attention immediately. Foreclosure is in no way as serious as cancer! But they are similar in that both are serious problems and the sooner you seek help to find a solution, the better off you will likely be–in either case?

Let’s go back to the birds analogy. If you’re older as I am the thought of an online dating service has little appeal. Not that anyone cares what I think. But people do flock to online dating services to meet other people.

The point is in a nation of over 300 million people and 6 billion people in the world we still feel isolated to the extent that more and more people go online to find love and friendship. And if you’re in foreclosure the last thing you need to feel is isolated. You need people to talk to!

Obviously you will need to do much more than just talk to stop foreclosure. But still, don’t underestimate the power of sharing ideas as a mechanism to help you think this problem through, to a point where it becomes clear what action you need to take next.

Foreclosure is a process, they don’t just come knock on your door today and ask you to be gone before tomorrow. The law requires you be sent a notice informing you that you have missed your payment. The law requires you be sent a formal notice of default typically after 90 days. The law requires you be sent a notice about 3 weeks before the trustee sale.

Let’s call on an animal analogy. How do you eat an elephant? Bit by bit. And so it is with foreclosure. Foreclosure can be overwhelming, so the way to tackle it is bit by bit, like you would eat an elephant.

In conclusion, the purpose of the foreclosure meet-up group is to give you an outlet to talk about what you think and feel about foreclosure. It is to help you begin, continue or get to the end of your thinking process so your next course of action is clear to you.
